The Telephony Application Programming
Interface or TAPI, for short, was developed through a joint effort between the Microsoft®
Corporation and Intel® Corporation and released in 1993. TAPI provides a programming
bridge between Windows® based computers and telephone systems.
TAPI and other technological developments have since fostered the rapid emergence of CTI or Computer Telephony Integration.
CTI technology coordinates the interactions between telephones and computers. Telephone
functionality has exploded because of CTI. Common examples include paging and call recording
applications.
accessaphone™ is a specialized CTI application that focuses not on functionality,
but on end user accessibility to functionality. Thus accessaphone™ is a member of
the CTI sub-category of CTAP, which stands for
Computerized Telephony Accessibility Provider.
Just Remember that:
- TAPI has led to CTI...
- CTI has led to CTAP...
- CTAP has led to accessaphone™ and...
- accessaphone™ has led to enhanced accessibility!
